Your role & your impact
- Supporting the Publisher in developing and managing the journals’ portfolio (including new launches and acquisitions) and in conducting market observations as well as data analyses and reporting to ensure a data-driven approach to journal management
- Acquisition of high-quality content via the implementation of journal commissioning plans
- Ensuring the journal’s performance along defined targets and KPIs
- Managing some administrative tasks, e.g. invitations and contracts
- Maintain publishing quality, ethics and standards including but not limited to research integrity and policies
- Main contact person for our editors and authors when it comes to managing themed issues and timelines,supporting and steering the editorial office as well as organizing, preparing and supporting Editorial Board Meetings
- Representing the journal and the Thieme group (after alignment) in an official environment (conferences, meetings, awards, receptions, panel discussions)
- Supporting social media activities e.g. managing different media channels, setting up newsletters or updating websites
Your profile
- PhD or master’s degree preferably in life sciences or medicine
- Proven track record in Journal Development with 2+ years’ experience minimum in the international academic publishing industry, ideally in an open access environment, would be desirable
- Data-driven mindset and experience in working with KPIs
- Excellent communications skills in English, written and spoken; German would be a bonus
- You have an above-average degree of self-organization as well as sovereign time and schedule management skills
- Strongly collaborative team worker, comfortable with co-ownership of shared goals and with a high level of personal accountability
- You have excellent Microsoft Office and other relevant software skills
- You are highly motivated and willing and able to travel
