Job Summary
The Project Manager (PM)-Books and Digital Products will be responsible for overseeing the entire editorial and production process of the books assigned based on either of the two workflows: (i) from the stage of receiving manuscripts from authors, managing the editorial development stage, managing production stages, to the stage of the title’s publication, or (ii) taking up the production tasks post development and seeing it through till the publication stage. 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct reviews and quality checks at various stages in the editorial and production work (review of raw manuscript, copyedited files, proofs, eflows, fine-tuned pages).
  • Must ensure quality and adherence to schedule in manuscript gathering, pre-editing, copyediting, eflow creation, typesetting, author’s review, proofs revision(s), and sending to print.
  • Manage relationships, share information, and coordinate work with all stakeholders.
  • Must plan and judge how long each production processing step would take, the complexities and nuances involved, discern any potential problem, suggest solutions, and plan the work accordingly.
  • Must coordinate the work of any artwork processing requirements with the medical illustration artist, the Production Editor, and the typesetter.
  • Must maintain good relationships and proactively communicate for schedules and review inputs with book Editors and contributing authors, keeping the best interests of the publishing house in mind. 
  • Must ensure that all inputs provided by authors/ Editors in their reviews are incorporated in the book correctly.
  • Must coordinate the work on getting the book cover and the back cover content ready and making available to marketing and other departments all information and materials that editorial and production department is expected to provide them.
  • Must track all the work on the assigned books, provide reports pertaining to them to all relevant stakeholders, and maintain all production records. 

Required Background & skills:

  • Must be a postgraduate in any discipline from a reputed university, with at least 3-4 years of experience in editorial and production work of book publishing.
  • Experience in medical books publishing would be highly desirable.
  • Must possess excellent English language proficiency.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills
  • Must possess technical knowledge of production stages of book publishing
