Job Summary:
The Thieme Publishing Group requires an organized and motivated International Rights Associate to provide general support to the foreign rights team. The ideal candidate will bring at least two years of hands-on experience in the publishing domain, including exposure to international licensing, royalty administration, and invoicing processes. Excellent English language skills as well as a high amount of commitment are essential for this position. This position would suit a graduate with a strong interest in the publishing industry. You will work in our office in Noida/India, and report to the Manager, Rights and Royalty, who is also working in the Noida office. We require the willingness to meet and master the challenge of working in a team across state borders. You will maintain a close relationship with the Head of the Department and the rest of the team, which is located in Stuttgart, particularly via email, phone, and web meetings.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Providing vital administrative support to the Manager, Rights and Royalty, and Rights Team. This includes:
- Double-checking sales reports of the license customers and issuing invoices for their sales
- Collaboration in the creation of quarterly title previews and maintenance of the landing page where the previews are presented to customers
- Booking and preparing appointments and managing diaries for international book fairs
- Filing contracts and keeping accurate and up-to-date records in the software system Klopotek
- Generating and maintaining statistics in Excel lists
- Monitoring expired contract options and checking with the potential licensees
- Monitoring scheduled publication dates of foreign language editions and checking with licensees
- Liaising with accounts and handling the individual dunning process for license customers
- Providing assistance for new businesses
- Assistance in preparing translation rights agreements
Required Background & skills:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Commerce/Finance/Accounting/Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in the publishing industry
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Strong interpersonal skills at all levels, as well as intercultural skills
- Excellent organization and time-management skills
- Strong interest in publishing
- Ability to adapt to different situations and tasks
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and quick perception
- Good understanding and ideally already having experience in working with data bases
- High resilience
- Creativity
- Structured and accurate work style
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office
Desirable:
- Problem-solving capabilities
- Strong research abilities (to stay up-to-date with current book trends in the market)
- Ideally, experience in the software system Klopotek or similar publishing software
- Ideally, some experience in the royalty processing domain of the publishing sector
- Preferably work experience in STM publishing
